Dansoman,
Accra — August 8, 2026
Love, joy,
unity, and togetherness filled the atmosphere at Exhibition Assemblies of
God Church, Dansoman, as members of the Wonadem UBA Foundation (WUBAF)
came together to celebrate the wedding of their cherished sister, Serwaa
Makafui, and her husband, Stanley Defia.
The occasion
was a beautiful demonstration of WUBAF’s commitment to love, care, support, and
fellowship, as members joined the couple, their families, and friends to
witness and celebrate the beginning of their new life together.
WUBAF
members arrived at the church as early as 10:20 AM, with the first six
members present to prepare and welcome other members who joined later.
The church
service commenced at approximately 12:00 PM with heartfelt song
ministration and praise led by the host church. At about 12:30 PM, the
atmosphere became even more exciting as the beautiful bride, Serwaa Makafui,
made her entrance into the auditorium to meet her groom.
Following
the bridal entrance, Rev. Emmanuel, one of the pastors of the host
church, delivered an inspiring sermon before inviting the couple forward for
the marriage ceremony.
The Senior
Pastor subsequently officiated the marriage, guiding Serwaa and Stanley
through the sacred exchange of vows and the signing of their marriage
certificate.
Following
the solemnization, the congregation expressed its love and support for the
newlyweds through a special offering dedicated to the couple as they embarked
on their marital journey.
The newly
married Mr. and Mrs. Defia later returned to the congregation for their
first dance, surrounded by songs of praise, prayers, and heartfelt wishes from
family, friends, and well-wishers.
Various
pastors present also committed the marriage into the hands of God, praying for
divine guidance, protection, peace, understanding, and blessings upon the
couple.
The church
service concluded at approximately 1:40 PM with a closing prayer and
benediction.
Following
the church service, the celebration continued with a reception held on the same
premises.
The
reception began with a lively musical interlude as the bridal party, comprising
bridesmaids and groomsmen, made a grand dance entrance, followed by the radiant
newlyweds.
Sis.
Deborah Adjei opened
the reception with a prayer, after which the chairperson introduced the couple
and delivered an acceptance speech.
Guests were
entertained with an engaging couple’s game involving the bridesmaids and
groomsmen. Music, laughter, refreshments, and fellowship created a warm and
memorable atmosphere throughout the celebration.
One of the
major highlights of the reception was a vibrant Borborbor performance by
WUBAF.
The
Foundation was given approximately 10 minutes to showcase the rich Ewe cultural
dance, and WUBAF members performed with enthusiasm, energy, and pride.
The
performance not only entertained guests but also provided a meaningful
opportunity for WUBAF to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of
the Ewe people.
Although a
second performance was unfortunately cut short due to an issue involving the
drummer, the spirit of celebration remained high, and guests continued to enjoy
the occasion until members began their departure shortly before 5:00 PM.
The wedding
also provided another opportunity for WUBAF members to demonstrate the
Foundation’s values of love, care, service, and collective responsibility.
Mr.
Edward Fiawoyife
generously contributed an undisclosed amount towards the payment of the
trumpeter. His gesture reflected the spirit of support and shared
responsibility that continues to strengthen the WUBAF family.
The Accra
Zone Zonal Overseer, Mr. Seth Kwaku Besah, also took responsibility for
transportation from Botwe to Dansoman, helping members travel
conveniently to support their colleague on her special day.
In addition,
Mr. Marcus Golomeke volunteered his vehicle to transport the drums back
to Botwe, while Mr. Elikem Dravie assisted with packing and ensured that
all items were safely returned.
These acts
of service once again demonstrated that WUBAF is more than a Foundation—it
is a family that stands together during important moments in the lives of its
members.
A total of 18
WUBAF members and 4 children were present to support Serwaa Makafui and
Stanley Defia on their special day.
The
Foundation gives thanks to God for granting everyone journey mercies and
ensuring the safe return of members after the celebration.
WUBAF also
extends special appreciation to its Founder & CEO, SIR UBA, for his
continuous prayers, guidance, and concern for the safety and well-being of
members before, during, and after Foundation activities.
