When Visits and Calls Stopped

The door swings open and the phone rings loud,

You stand today within a cheering crowd.

But life is time, a shifting, restless sea,

And silence waits for you as well as me.

The baton passes, power finds its turn,

A lesson every soul is forced to learn.

If you are strong, remember to be frail,

Before your vigor and your senses fail.

Your current actions script the future scene,

The law of balance, just and ever keen.

Carry a brother while your arms have might,

Before the shadows lengthen into night.

When calls fall silent and the visits end,

You’ll need the heart of a devoted friend.

For in that quiet, when the world grows cold,

What you have given is all your hands will hold.

The "Why" of today is the peace of your last,

Build well the bridge before the day is past.

A change in actions-

A change in reactions.
